E. Ross Studios School of Film & Television (SFTV) is proud to announce the soft launch of the extensive certification program designed to equip attendees with essential skills and practical experience in the entertainment industry. In collaboration with JOB1 and the City of New Orleans Workforce Development initiative, this program aims to foster a strong pipeline of skilled professionals within the Southeast region’s evolving entertainment landscape.

    Jason Lanier, the archival photographer for e. ross studios JAZZLAND, is an award-winning photographer known for his exceptional work in wedding, portrait, landscape, wildlife, and photojournalism photography, as well as light painting and art installations. In addition to his diverse photographic skills, Jason is a seasoned speaker and presenter in the photography industry, empowering photographers to pursue their dreams and master their craft.

    Discover how to effectively light, pose, and engage with individuals to achieve the best results. Lighting techniques will blend elements of both natural and artificial sources.

    Uncover the techniques to illuminate a scene with artificial lighting and light painting, resulting in extraordinary visual outcomes.
    Course Description

    Light painting and art installations showcase the intersection of filming, photography, and visual art. In light painting, the artist uses long exposure techniques to capture trails of light, creating dynamic and ethereal images. When combined with art installations, these photographs enhance the viewer's experience by integrating illuminated elements into physical spaces, transforming them into immersive environments. This collaboration cohesively explores the relationship between light, space, and artistic expression, resulting in a captivating visual experience.

    Phil Gilpin, Jr.

    Before assuming the role of Executive Director of Catalyst in 2012, Philip gained valuable experience as a Business Affairs Analyst at HBO in Los Angeles. During his tenure at HBO, he contributed to the financial and contractual negotiations for prominent titles such as "The Sopranos," "Sex and the City," "Six Feet Under," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "The Wire."

    Born and raised in Boston, Philip holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Boston College. His commitment to the television industry is reflected in his prior service on the Board of Governors of the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, also known as the TV Emmys.

    In 2023, Philip relocated to Tirana, Albania, where Catalyst launched its European hub, offering classes and festivals for aspiring youth and adult actors, writers, directors, and producers. His diverse background and passion for the arts continue to shape Catalyst's mission and outreach in the region.

    Rhavynn Drummer

    Rhavynn Drummer is an award-winning producer, director, and casting director who has always had a love for actors and great performances. She began her career in casting at Tyler Perry Studios in 2007 after graduating from the University of Virginia. She's had the honor of casting over fifteen television series, eighteen feature films, and seven touring plays with the studio. She has also worked on numerous independent projects with Nickelodeon, Starz, Nike, and YouTube Red. She recently added professor to her many job titles. She is an adjunct professor in the theatre and communication studies department at Clark Atlanta University.
